Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover routine hearing aids or hearing aid fittings. However, Medicare Part B may cover diagnostic hearing exams ordered by a physician for medical reasons. Many Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans include hearing benefits for exams, hearing aids, and fittings as part of their extra benefits. We can help verify your benefits before your appointment.

A hearing aid dispenser (or hearing instrument specialist) primarily fits and sells hearing aids. For diagnostic work, complex cases, and best-practice fittings using Real Ear Measurement, an audiologist provides a higher level of clinical expertise.
Yes, in most cases. Comet Audiology can clean, troubleshoot, repair, and reprogram hearing aids from most major manufacturers, regardless of where they were originally purchased. Some warranty-locked models or proprietary brands (such as those sold only through specific big-box retailers) may have repair limitations - we'll let you know before your visit.
An initial hearing aid fitting appointment typically takes 45 to 60 minutes. This includes physical fitting, initial programming based on your audiogram, Real Ear Measurement verification, smartphone pairing if applicable, and instruction on care and use. Follow-up fine-tuning appointments are usually 30 to 45 minutes.
Real Ear Measurement (REM) is a clinical best-practice procedure that uses a tiny probe microphone in your ear canal to verify that your hearing aids are delivering exactly the prescription your hearing requires. Without REM, hearing aids are often programmed to manufacturer defaults rather than your specific ear acoustics, leading to suboptimal performance. Studies show that less than half of US dispensers perform REM. Comet Audiology performs REM at every fitting, in your home.
Yes. Most hearing aids come with a manufacturer trial period (typically 30 to 45 days) during which you can return them for a refund if they aren't right for you. We'll explain the specific trial terms during your consultation, before any purchase decision.
Hearing aids are highly programmable, and the first fitting is rarely the final one. Comet Audiology includes follow-up adjustments as part of the fitting process - we'll fine-tune the programming, fit, and feature settings until your hearing aids work the way you need. All adjustments happen in your home.
